Pixel - The Masked Sketch [VRChat PC + Quest]

As the owner of a small bar smack-dab in the middle of a 22nd century megalopolis, Pixel sees a lot of faces. More importantly, he sees that people’s faces are mistakenly associated with their identities. But he sees a problem in that: people change, faces don’t… not easily, at least.

Whispers on the streets say that he’s running from something. Some say it’s the law, others say it’s some catastrophic past mistake, still more say he’s living a double life. Nobody knows for sure. There’s not a soul alive that knows what’s underneath the mask, and Pixel intends to keep it that way. According to him, the mask is exactly what it says on the tin – the ultimate form of self-expression, and a rejection of the unchangeable.

But perhaps nature isn’t quelled so easily, and a scar is still left despite any attempt to hide it.

Pixel’s main feature is a unique sketched look, which is animated “on twos” similar to many animated shows and movies. “On twos” refers to the way animations are made at 24 frames per second, and the characters are only animated to move every second frame. Pixel’s textures also have a slight jitter, as if he is being redrawn every frame!

This model is also incredibly performant, and able to be uploaded as a custom fallback avatar!

The proportions of this model are also designed with full-body tracking in mind!

BEFORE PURCHASING, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING DISCLAIMERS:

• My Gumroad page is currently the ONLY page where Pixel can be bought. If you find it elsewhere, it is acquired illegally.
• Due to how digital purchases work, all sales of this avatar are final and refunds are not possible.
• The 12 FPS effect is purely a visual effect of the avatar, and it does not lower your game's frame rate.
• VRChat normally shrinks the head bone of your avatar so that you do not see inside your own head. Since the 12 FPS version of the avatar uses a second armature, VRChat cannot shrink this bone. This means that when moving, you will sometimes catch glimpses of the inside of your own head! This is an unfortunate consequence of the way the animation works. If you do not want to deal with this issue, consider using the optimized version instead.
  • If you are using full-body tracking, make sure you have your FBT mode set to either "Lock Head" or "Lock Both". Using "Lock Hips" will cause you to see inside your own head.
• The 12 FPS version of this avatar makes use of many constraints. This means that the effect is not very performant, and may contribute to some minor lag. While VRChat does not currently include constraints as part of the performance rank, this may change at any time, which would likely lead to the avatar being ranked as very poor. However, the optimized and Quest versions of the avatar will likely always remain as good or excellent rankings.

LICENSE AGREEMENT AND TERMS OF USE:

By purchasing and/or using this avatar, you are agreeing to the license agreement below. You are not purchasing the rights to use the character, only the license to use this avatar for the uses permitted below.

Permitted use:

• Uploading to virtual reality social platforms such as VRChat as a private avatar is permitted.
• Modifying the model for personal use is permitted.
• Temporary transfer of files to a commissioner for the purpose of editing the avatar is permitted.
  • Note: the commissioner is not required to purchase the original avatar, however, the commissioner must delete all avatar files following the completion of the commission, and is not permitted to use the files for any personal use without purchasing the avatar.

Permitted use with proper credit attribution:

• Credit attributions should include my name (V1X3L or Vixel), the name of the character (Pixel), and a link to my Gumroad store page (https://psychopsy.gumroad.com).

• Repurposing portions of the avatar to “kitbash” or implement onto other avatars is only permitted with proper credit attribution.
  • Credit should be attributed in the avatar description.
  • Edited versions of this avatar, or creations using repurposed portions of this avatar must still abide by this license agreement.
• Use of the avatar or the character’s design in live streaming or video recording is only permitted if the avatar is not used as a core part of the creator’s identity or online persona, and with proper credit attribution.
  • The credit should appear in a visible place near the top of the video description, in the info page of the stream, or any other applicable spot which is easily seen by viewers of the content.
• Use of the character design in fanart or individual art commissions is permitted with proper credit attribution.
  • In this circumstance, a link to my Gumroad store page is not required in the credit attribution.

Forbidden use:

• Uploading this avatar as a public avatar is prohibited.
• Presenting the avatar, any portion of the avatar, or the character as your own design or creation is prohibited.

• Redistribution or transfer of the files of the whole avatar or any part of the avatar or package is prohibited, even if it is edited.
• The unauthorized sale of derivative works involving the character is prohibited (excluding individual art commissions intended for personal use, with credit attribution as mentioned above).
• Producing derivative works of the character while presenting the character as your own design is prohibited.
